August 30, 2008

The other day I made this handsome little polar bear. He was in one of the Japanese sewing books that I am addicted to buying. I finally made something from one of the embroidery ones (woohoo) and it was so fun I think he will have friends soon.
I made a painting …oh my
August 28, 2008

I’ve actually been productive lately and… (gasp) making things. Pretty crazy right? I even busted out the paints during my last two weekends. I thought I’d use all my art school knowledge to make paintings that look like they were made by a kid
hehe. In real life you can see the wood grain texture through the blue sky. There is an octopus wearing a ring pop and a Vegas sun visor, listening to some sweet tunes on his Fisher Price cassette player (he likes to indulge). The evil thunder cloud tries to bring him down, but nothing can disrupt his peaceful day.
Ooh no! You’ve got Humans
August 13, 2008Wow this video by three legged legs is soo great for so many reasons. It really makes me sad to watch it I hope the cute earth can survive that terrible case of the humans
poor poor earth.
Loco Gocco
July 29, 2008

hmmm… I think I may have just used up all my clever gocco post titles hehe. Just kidding I know they’re lame… but I’m sure I’ll think of more because I heart my gocco. So, here is a billion pictures of the cards I made the other night… this design is for my Grandma who is in the hospital right now (hopefully it will help cheer her up- who doesn’t like a smiley band-aid? ). For this one I made the design on the computer and then used xeroxes. It was made up of 3 screens. I found out that you can’t really make a solid background color. For some reason I ended up with an outline and the color didn’t go to the edge. It’s ok though because it gives it a distressed feel. Anyone have any idea why though? Or is this just because of how it is exposed with the light. Anyway, these should be popping up on my etsy shop soooon
Gocco the Night Away
July 21, 2008

So, I finally busted out the Gocco machine again last night. I had been planning to make these before my huge rush of birthdays in June and July. Had the drawings made and everything. But, in true Lisa fashion I missed all the birthdays again. So for those friends and family members that recently had a birthday you’ll probably get one of these in the mail soon. I didn’t forget you… I promise. But anyway, this is not the first thing I made on my gocco… just the first one that came out pretty well. I made plenty of mistakes along the way but, I’m really happy about how it looks. I busted out some of my high school art skills and used a stippling technique for the sky and the clouds (thanks Ms. Duran). Some sweet florescent pink ink for the balloon. I even made the back side of the postcard too. The words on the bottom get a little cut off but it adds character right??
Seven Deadly Sins
July 21, 2008

Now you can drink that cafe mocha with extra whip out of a “seven deadly sins” tea cup. Maybe you could watch Willy Wonka at the same time… ? Anyway, I love the irony of the delicate vintage ceramics contrasted with the meanings of the words inscribed. Check them out at Trixiedelicious’s etsy shop Vandalized Vintage

July 12, 2008

The Peculiar Creations workshop is back in action. I’ve been making fuzzy monster steering wheel covers, and plush eggs and bacon key chains galore. I can’t wait to experiment with more variations of steering wheel covers… I have plenty of ideas brewing in my head. Check out the goods here because you know you want some…
